How big a part of our Wellness is our Physical Fitness?

As mentioned in a previous post, even a person that is close to dying can improve a bit on their personal wellness continuum by doing the best they can with what is left to them, but if we are not close to death, a little bit of physical fitness should be a big bit of our wellness.

Is your body something you want to live in? Right now, I don’t much want to live in mine because it needs a new hip. A few weeks after the new hip is installed, I will enjoy living in it again. This is because I know it will function pretty well for being 65 years old. I know this because I tend make life a little harder than it has to be. Why do I do that?

I am almost bald, but I brush my old guy head 50 to 60 strokes every morning with exaggerated movements of my neck and arms, so my neck and shoulders and arms get a good stretch to start the day.

I park in the farthest parking spot I find so I get a bit of a walk when I go into a building.

When trucking, I wash my windows with a cloth instead of the long-handled squeegees at the fuel island so I have to climb around and stretch.

When inspecting the truck I throw on coveralls and get all under the thing so I have to contort a bit and keep my mobility as I age.

Doing everything the easy way now only makes life a lot more difficult later. That’s why I make it a little harder each day and so should you.
