Give Thanks and Look to the Future

November 20, 2022

I’m guessing you know we are approaching Thanksgiving and The Holidays, and, 2023. What will you do with your life in the new year? Just get older? Why not get better? Bolder? More fit? More youthful? More knowledgeable?

The Holiday Season is a great time to reflect on your life and your past. You should consider some serious decisions that you need to make in the present to live your best future. The first step is to think about what you have already achieved in life. Keep yourself motivated by remembering how much you have achieved. Write down your accomplishments and celebrate your successes. Next, make the most of the opportunities for reflection and goal setting that will come your way during this holiday season. This means that you should think seriously of the future. It is important to plan what you will do in 2023 and beyond. You will need to have some sort of plan in place if you are going to live your dreams. You should think about your current job, possibly a future job, and your newest dreams and goals. Think about what you want to be and do. Don’t worry too much about what other people might say, but don’t necessarily hide your goals from all others. Putting yourself “out there” in front of select others can be great motivation. Focus on your best possible self, your family, and your friends. This will provide many reasons to achieve the best from yourself.

Make a list of all the things that you want to do in 2023. Dream things that will stretch your capabilities and impel you to grow. Dreams become goals only when they become words in front of you so write them down or record them in your phone. Keep them in view daily. Perhaps program your phone to remind you to consistently look at your goals and think of all ways you are going to achieve them.

There are many indications of lean times ahead in 2023. We are all going to need to use the talents we have been blessed with if we are to progress in our lives. In previous economic downturns, I spent a lot of time waiting for loads. Instead of sitting around bitching with other drivers, I learned to learn. I learned to do a few things each day to improve myself and my life. Let’s do so as a team in the coming year and get through it successfully together.

Let’s all share goals in the readers’ post areas and support each other as we prepare to Rock 2023. Beginning New Year’s Day, driversthriving.com will be staffed full-time for daily responses and useful information, truck stop and rest area workout videos of fitness “targets of opportunity”, items such as digital workbooks, weekly challenges, mini-courses, full courses, and other good stuff for we truckers and travelers that demand a little more from ourselves than our peers might – those of us that truly desire to live the best lives we can in any situation we are in.
